First Class 2024/25

First class had a busy term. September was full of lots of play and learning as we adjusted to our extra hour in school! We celebrated our Green Flag and Amber Flag with some icecream!

In October we learnt about the weather; the children used a rain gauge and observed the weather daily. We also had maths week and enjoyed a variety of maths activities, indoors and outdoors, including a maths trail with Mrs. O’Rourke!

In November we were lucky to have a visit from Martin Curley. He showed us some fossils, and we explored the school grounds, looking at elements of history and geography around us. During Science Week we completed science experiments, participated in a science show, and made lava lamps with Ms. O’Keefe.

December was a very busy month. Of course, the highlight of the month was our play ‘Santa is Sick’! We had lots of play rehearsals, but we managed to find time for other activities. We worked as authors to write a Christmas narrative book. The Wellbeing Committee organised some lovely activities for the children: including buddy reading with 3rd class and a game of pass the parcel, which they loved! It was a lovely end to the year!
