Senior Infants 2024/25

In Term 2, Senior Infants enjoyed working on many Aistear themes.  They loved learning about zoo animals and sea creatures.  They enjoyed learning about healthy eating and Jack and the Beanstalk.  In the Junk Art area, they created beanstalks and cottages for Jack!

For World Book Day, the children dressed up as their favourite character from a book.  They enjoyed a visit to the library.  They created bookmarks and they designed book covers.

Seachtain na Gaeilge was celebrated by the children.  They sang Irish songs and they wore green clothes.  The highlights of the week included our céili in the hall and going to the Seó Faisin which was performed by 6th Class.

The children created beautiful Mother’s Day cards.  In our art lessons, they painted snowdrops and cherry blossom trees.  As part of Active Schools, the children are taking part in a skipping challenge.  They are all working hard on improving their skipping techniques!

Senior Infants have been very busy since returning to school last August.
In September children engaged in Aistear under the birthday party theme, planning games, creating invitations, and organizing pretend play activities.
In October the children learned about toys from the past. They interviewed their parents/grandparents about the toys they played with when they were younger. They shared the information in class and everyone really enjoyed listening to all the different types of toys – rocking horse, Jack in the Box, rag doll to name a few.
In November the children began preparations for their Christmas concert called ‘The Littlest Christmas Tree’. The children practiced songs and poetry, learned choreography and rehearsed their roles for the concert. Everyone who came to watch the show agreed it was an amazing performance from start to finish! Senior Infants celebrated Science Week by conducting experiments for other classes. The children investigated ‘How to Make a Lava Lamp’ and ‘Candy Colour Mixing’. Everyone had lots of fun!
In December the children enjoyed Christmas craft activities. They created a nativity scene, made Christmas stars and designed beautiful snowglobes.  In the lead up to Christmas Senior Infants made the trip to ‘The Dean Crowe Theatre’ to watch the performance of ‘Santa and the Three Little Pigs’.
Everyone had a great Christmas and are happy to be back in school again with their friends.
